AV technology has reached a point at which integration across a network is no longer just a fun idea. Current tools make convergence possible, allowing all of an organization’s devices to be run simultaneously on the same network. This is exciting for business users who like the idea of improved AV control systems programming, but it can potentially create a headache for IT staff concerned about network security.

In a recent presentation, IT expert Irwin Lazar broke down the most frequently used collaboration tools in the global workplace. Email was the most popular technology, followed by audio conferencing, videoconferencing and instant message. With regard to the impact the technology has over business operations, email was ranked the most important, closely followed by audio conferencing, videoconferencing, voicemail and instant messaging.
